Launch of ICON Cares

4.16.2020

Some of the ownership here at ICON Injection Molding has long been committed to community service and volunteer work in their personal lives. We have not yet gotten to cross this passion over into the business but felt that the COVID-19 crisis gave us a good opportunity. We also felt that our employees, while they still had jobs, were certainly feeling the impacts of this worldwide pandemic and would be a great place to focus our initial efforts. Lead by CFO Nancy Kleitsch, on March 23rd, 2020, we began making food boxes and from this effort, ICON Cares was born. What began as a one-time gift to our workers in need has continued. We only anticipated making food boxes once, but since March 23rd, we have continued to make food boxes and have made them for four weeks now.

Since boxes have been given out no-questions-asked, we have not pried into the specific struggles that our employees face; however, we have gotten some amazing feedback from single parents who are facing the brand-new challenge of having school-age children at home full-time. We hope that this is the beginning of many more acts of caring and service to come, and that we will be able to expand ICON Cares beyond the walls of our company.
